    Susan B.Shurin

　　Susan B. Shurin， M.D.， is deputy director of the National Heart， Lung，and Blood Institute (NHLBI) at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). InNovember 2011， Dr. Shurin was elected chair of the Global Alliance for ChronicDiseases (GACD)， of which the NHLBI is a founding member.Before joining theNHLBI， Dr. Shurin was Professor of Pediatrics and Oncology at Case WesternReserve University in Cleveland， Ohio; Director of Pediatric Hematology-Oncologyat Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital; Director of Pediatric Oncology atthe Case Comprehensive Cancer Center; and Vice President and Secretary of theCorporation at Case Western Reserve University.  Dr. Shurin received hereducation and medical training at Harvard University and the Johns HopkinsUniversity School of Medicine. Her laboratory research focused on thephysiology of phagocyte function， recognition and killing of pathogens;mechanisms of hemolysis， red blood cell destruction; and iron overload. She hasbeen active in clinical research in many aspects of pediatrichematology-oncology.

　　Stephen MacMahon

　　Professor Stephen MacMahon is founder and Principal Director of TheGeorge Institute for Global Health.  He is also Professor of Medicine& James Martin Fellow at the University of Oxford and Professor ofCardiovascular Medicine at the University of Sydney.  He is aninternational authority on the causes， prevention and treatment ofcardiovascular diseases.  His special interest is the management ofchronic and complex conditions in resource-poor settings， particularly in theAsia-Pacific region.  He has published several hundred scientific papersand delivered many invited lectures.  For his work in the field ofcardiovascular disease， he has received numerous awards， fellowships andhonours.

　　Venkat Narayan

　　Dr. Narayan is the Ruth and O.C. Hubert Professor of Global Health and Epidemiologyat Emory's Rollins School of Public Health and Professor of Medicine at theEmory University School of Medicine. Dr. Narayan is a physician-scientisttrained in internal medicine， geriatric medicine， and preventive medicine， andspecializes in the epidemiology and prevention of diabetes， obesity， and vasculardiseases. He is an investigator in several large， multi-center， nationalstudies of diabetes. Additionally he leads the Emory Global HealthInstitute-funded diabetes research center in Madras and has led studiesfocusing on health impacts of global migration. He has authored/coauthored over190 peer-reviewed publications. He is a fellow of the American College ofPhysicians， Royal College of Physicians of Ireland， and the Faculty of PublicHealth Medicine of the Royal College of Physicians (UK).

　　Michael H.Merson

　　Michael H. Merson， M.D.is thefounding director of the Duke Global Health Institute， Wolfgang JoklikProfessor of Global Health， and Professor of Medicine， Community and FamilyMedicine， and Public Policy at Duke University. His research focused ontheetiology and epidemiology of acute diarrheal diseases in developingcountries and on the cause of travelers’ diarrhea in persons visiting thesecountries.He has held leadership positions at the Centers for Disease Control，Cholera Research Laboratory in Bangladesh， Diarrheal Diseases Control Programand Global Program on AIDS at the World Health Organization.  Merson hasadvised UNAIDS， WHO， Global Fund， World Bank， Doris Duke Foundation， WorldEconomic Forum， and the Gates Foundation， and is a member of the Commission forSmart Global Health Policy-CSIS and of the Institute of Medicine， NationalAcademy of Sciences. He is senior editor of Global Health: Disease， Programs，Systems， and Policies， a leading global health textbook.

　　Cristina Rabadán-Diehl

　　Dr. Cristina Rabadán-Diehl is an expert on cardiovascular health andserves as deputy director of the Office of Global Health for the NationalHeart， Lung， and Blood Institute (NHLBI). In 2012， she was appointed thescientific manager， for the NIH， within the Global Alliance for Chronic Disease(GACD).?Dr. Rabadán-Diehl has a degree in pharmacy from the UniversidadComplutense of Madrid (Spain); a Ph.D. from the University of Miami (FL); andan M.P.H. and Health Communications Certificate from the Johns HopkinsUniversity School of Public Health (Baltimore， MD).Dr. Rabadán-Diehl is amember of several professional associations; an external advisor for theCanadian Institutes of Health Research Cardiovascular Complications of DiabetesInitiative; and an editorial board member for the World Journal of Diabetes andThe Journal of Developmental Origins of Health and Disease. Her areas ofexpertise include: diabetes complications， hypertension and developmentalorigins of adult disease， and global health.

　　Prabhakaran Dorairaj

　　DorairajPrabhakaran is the Executive Director of the Centre for ChronicDisease Control (CCDC). He has worked to establish CCDC as a leading center forresearch in non-communicable diseases with a strong emphasis on fundamental，translational and clinical research involving cardiovascular diseases， diabetesand cancer. He is a cardiologist and epidemiologist by training. Hehas a careercommitment to preventive cardiology.  Hehas been involved in several major international and national research studies，and is currently involved in many community based prevention programmes，strategic clinical trials and observational studies.?At a policy level he hasassisted the Government of India in formulating the National Programme forPrevention of Cardiovascular diseases， Stroke， diabetes and cancer， helped theWorld Bank in developing the regional policy note on NCDs for SAARC countriesand assisted the WHO (SEARO) in their capacity building and capacitystrengthening programme of the SEARO countries. He is co-editor of Global Heartwhich is the official Journal of the World Heart Federation.He has more than150 publications in high impact prestigious journals including the JAMA， NewEngland Journal of Medicine， Proceedings of National Academy of Sciences， USA，Lancet and Journal of American College of Cardiology.
